That's why GENCI and CEA organized the first workshop dedicated to community on-boarding, in other words, linking Alice Recoque with its future users, on February 18 and 19, in the presence of AMD and Bull.
While the Alice Recoque technology project was the focus of attention for the hundred or so participants, all aspects were discussed, including the presentation of the various programs that make up the NumPEx project, which aims to design and develop software solutions that can equip European Exascale machines.
Exchanges presented the status of code porting and identified needs to enable communities to be ready for the production launch of the Alice Recoque computer. Around ten codes were presented at the workshop, in climate, AI, fusion, fluid dynamics and more.
To meet these needs, an "AST" (Application Support Team) is being set up. It will comprise 12 people on the French side, who will help with code preparation. Its work will start in a few weeks, in the second quarter of this year.
AMD, for its part, will be deploying a 5-strong Center of Excellence (COE) by the end of the third quarter of 2026. Bull will also be setting up collaborative initiatives.
These exchange days, which took place in a constructive atmosphere, also enabled the communities to exchange best practices and knowledge that can already be activated.
Of course, these days are only a first step. But an essential one for Alice Recoque and science.
